Teen arrested in connection with string of burglaries
SANTA ANA Police have arrested a 17 year old boy accused of burglarizing more than a dozen homes in Santa Ana and Garden Grove.
The value of the stolen items was estimated at more than $100,000.
The teen was arrested Wednesday after detectives identified him through a fingerprint left at one of the homes, said Cpl. Anthony Bertagna of the Santa Ana Police Department.
Detectives conducting surveillance arrested the boy when he walked out of his Santa Ana home. The boy was wearing an expensive watch that police believe he stole during a burglary, Bertagna said.
The teen, whom police did not identify because he is a minor, confessed to burglarizing the home where the fingerprint was found and then showed detectives 13 homes he burglarized in Santa Ana and three he burglarized in Garden Grove, Bertagna said.

The rash of residential burglaries in the northeast part of the city began in March. The burglaries occurred in the morning and early afternoon while residents were at work, he said.
