CREATING CAPTIONS FOR INSTAGRAM STORIES from Anthony Huerta's blog

Method 1: Standard tools

To create an inscription in a story, it is quite possible to limit yourself to standard tools, using a separate text adding function, drawing tools, or stickers to choose from. Each tool is directly linked to the story editor from the official app.

After going to the story editor on the top panel, tap the "Aa" button to turn on the text add tool. Alternatively, you can simply tap anywhere on the screen.

Add the text you want to see on the photo. The font can be changed using the bottom panel, while the slider on the left is responsible for the size.

The color of the text changes through the palette available by clicking on the marked icon. Here you can also add a background, each of which is stylized strictly according to the font selected earlier.

You cannot combine different styles within the same text layer. However, at the same time, there are no restrictions on the number of elements of a given type, which creates partial variability.

To save the final result, use the checkmark in the upper right corner of the screen. After that, the publication is made by analogy with any story since the text is just one of the elements of the editor.

Option 2: Drawing Tools

As ig stories website notes to create text in a story using the drawing tools, prepare the content and tap the button shown in the screenshot in the application editor. After that, you can immediately select one of the brushes, set the color, and also change the size.

You can change various parameters right in the process of writing the text. Unfortunately, there are no auxiliary elements for creating inscriptions.

As before, saving is done using the checkmark in the corner of the screen. However, you can always go back to the editor and make changes before publishing stories.

The last way to add captions is to use the stickers provided by the application in huge quantities for free; some of them contain thematic text. To go to the full list, tap the sticker icon on the top panel and select the appropriate option in the pop-up window.

If you want to manually enter the text, the poll sticker, hashtag, mention, question, or test sticker is optimal. Each of the options has a number of its own settings, such as changing the color by touch and can also be placed at any point in the story.

As an additional solution, you can use the search in the sticker section to find a specific signature. As a rule, there are only animated inscriptions in English, which cannot be edited.

Saving the final result, in this case, is not required since the placement is made immediately on the main page of the editor. It should not be forgotten that the presented methods can be combined with each other.

Method 2: Third-Party Applications

If you are not satisfied with the standard features of Instagram, you can always use third-party apps for Android or iOS that provide different design styles. We will consider only two completely different options. However, there are many alternative programs in the Play Market and the App Store.

Option 1: Fontify

This miniature application is a library of various fonts that allows you to create and copy text, which is subsequently used in the official client. To use the program, install using one of the links below, and after opening, fill in the text field "Text to copy."

From the list of available options, select the appropriate one by single-touching the corresponding line. After that, click "Copy" and make sure that the pop-up notification "Text copied" is displayed on the screen.

Create or go to a pre-prepared story on Instagram, select the "Text" tool by analogy with the first method of the instruction, and hold down any part of the screen for a few seconds. To add copied characters, use the "Paste" button above the text input field.

The screen will display text in the style that was selected through the software in question. Of course, you can apply various effects without restrictions, whether it be positioning, scaling, changing colors, and so on.

Option 2: Snapseed

The Snapseed app is a complete alternative to the standard Instagram story editor and provides many interesting and, not least, free text styles. Download the program and use the "+" or "Open" button on the main page to proceed to the selection of a background image while making sure to provide access to the files in the device's memory.

Additionally, you can use "Settings," available to open through the menu "..." on the main screen. For the most part, this refers to the quality parameters of photos after processing.

Use the file manager to select the image you want to use as the background. Unfortunately, only static images are supported here.

Once on the editor page, make changes if necessary and go to the "Tools" tab. From the list presented, select "Text."

Tap anywhere on the screen to place the base pattern. After that, double-tap on the block that appears and fills in the text field at your discretion.

After completing the save using the OK button, you can immediately familiarize yourself with the result. If you are not satisfied with the color of the text, you can touch the first tab on the bottom panel and select the appropriate shade from a fairly extensive palette.

On the next page, from the same menu, you can change the transparency of the template. What's more, you can click the Invert button to paint over most of the background, leaving only the text content.

If you want to change the design style, go to the last tab and select the appropriate option, whether it's just a font or a full template. There are quite a lot of options available here. However, some may be blocked due to the lack of Cyrillic support.

When you're done editing stories, tap the checkmark in the bottom right corner of the screen. To publish the result to Instagram, click "Export" and select "Share" in the pop-up window.

From the available options, tap "Stories" and, once in the official application, make changes using standard tools. For example, if the photo is rectangular, you can scale it.

Please note that the content may be distorted due to quality at high magnification. Saving the result is done by pressing the button with the image of the arrow.
