How to Customize Your Timeline App Thumbnails from fexpost's blog

With the recent changeover to Timeline for pages, business owners and marketers have been left scrambling to re-educate themselves on how to make the most of their Facebook pages. Since having a default custom landing tab is no longer an option, we all have to relearn best practices when it comes to usability and engagement for pages. How to make you tube thumbnail

Whereas many page admins used to use the photo strip at the top of the page for branding and navigation, Facebook has created a spot under the cover photo for app thumbnails, which are more efficient for these purposes. Rather than having users click on the photo and have to click again on a link, they can now click on the thumbnail and be taken directly to a new app/page.

While apps provide a default thumbnail image, many pages are designing their own thumbnails that match the look and feel of their page, and work better with their branding. Here's how they do it!

How to Change Your App Thumbnails

Navigate to your page admin, and under "Manage", click on "Edit Page".

Here you'll see all your customization options. Select "Apps".

Scroll down until you see the app for which you'd like to change the custom thumbnail. It's a good idea to customize all your app thumbnails, but especially the 3 apps which will be displayed right beneath your cover photo (the apps to the right of the mandatory images app thumbnail).

In this example, we want to change the thumbnail for our Mailchimp app. Click "Edit Settings" underneath the app.

Here you're given the option to remove the tab, change the tab image, or the tab name. Select "Change" next to Custom Tab Image.

On the next screen you'll see the current default thumbnail, and have the option to change it. Click "Change"

Finally, find your custom thumbnail on your computer and upload it. There are some great free thumbnails you can download online, with standard icons you can use for apps like your contact us page, newsletter signup, and contests page.
