Saying goodbye to Dax

All of these efforts were done to show silent support for a family trying to create a peaceful, happy holiday for their son so that his last days would be filled with joy and comfort. It's been absolutely inspiring to watch. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

His mother wrote this message on Dax's journal this morning:

Dax Ryan Locke 6 26 2007 to 12 30 2009. His heart stopped at 2:15AM.

He touched so many lives in such a short time. He was a fighter until the end. He will be remembered forever in the hearts of all that loved him .

So sad, but at the same time a warm and happy story. I am pleased that Dax was able to see one more CHRISTmas.

I pray that his family will allways cherish his memory, keeping him alive in their hearts.

I am a father who lost his son (James) on July 31st, 2009, to AML. James was 22 when he died. He fought and suffered for the last 26 months of his life. The loss has been extremely painful and beyond description.

I am growing increasingly concerned about the incidence of young people getting this type of cancer. During the time my son was ill, I lost count of the number of young people I saw suffering through this most horrible cancer.

I feel so sad for Dax's family. I cry out every time I see these stories. My son was diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia in October 2006 and for the past 3 years my family's life has been hell at times. My son, thank God, responded well to treatment and will receive his final dose of chemotherapy next month. Although he is well now, I still look at him and wonder why such a young boy had to go through the nightmare of cancer.
